Cambodia Gambling Dens
October 21st, 2015 at 9:21There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights many comforts aside from the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
